This week, the guys discuss some of the comics they haven’t quite broken through the Hollywood barrier yet. The guys bat around several ideas and share a few suggestions from you. Episode 151: 2009-The Year in Review
Your good buddy Chase is back for the first of two very special episodes! This week, Chase and Blake announce the winners of the Best of 2009 as voted on by you, the Showcase listener! ‘Tis the season to go shopping! All the major gift-giving holidays are coming up, and the geeks of America are making their lists. This week, the boys go through some of the swag you may want to get for your gift this season: toys, books, electronics, Turtle Wax (if you’re buying things for Mike), and everything else in-between is on the list, and the guys go through it all! In the picks this week, Kenny picks Flash: Rebirth #5, Blake goes with The Web #3 and Mike doubles up with Adventure Comics #4 and his graphic novel pick, the DC Comics Classic Library edition of Batman: A Death in the Family.
Episode 119: Return of the Showcase Tangent
We haven’t done one since October, and that’s way too long. It’s the return of the Showcase Tangent! This week the guys bounce from topic to topic with no rhyme or reason, answering your e-mails, and going where the discussion takes us. Flash: Rebirth! The new DC pulp heroes including Doc Savage! He seems to win a pick of the week every other episode, so Blake and Chase finally devote an entire hour to the amazing Geoff Johns. From his groundbreaking work on Green Lantern to his upcoming revamp of the Flash to the totally brilliant revitalization of the Legion of Super-Heroes, the guys discuss why they like his work, what makes him so darn good, and whether or not Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds will be as awesome as Blackest Night. In the picks, Blake goes with the first issue of the new Vertigo series, Air, while Chase is blown away by The Walking Dead #51.
