It’s almost Halloween, and that means it’s time for another Showcase Creature Feature! This year, the gang gets together to tackle another legendary Universal Monster in Creature From the Black Lagoon, The Revenge of The Creature, and The Creature Walks Among Us! Does the Gillman hold up against the likes of Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, and the Wolfman, or is he all wet?
And what’s cool this week? Kenny has discovered the wonder of Loot Crate, while Blake was impressed by the first issues of Dark Circle’s The Shield and IDW’s Back to the Future.
On a more serious note, on Oct. 16, Erin’s brother’s home caught on fire. His family (including his wife, three children, and a fourth on the way) lost virtually everything they had, including their dog, Phoebe. Erin has started a GoFundMe campaign to try to help them get back on their feet. We’ve never asked for money on this show, but we’re making an exception this time. If you can, please go to GoFundMe.com/BlashFamily and make a donation — any size would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
The new season of The Walking Dead starts tonight, and that means we’ll have five live-action, prime time TV shows based on comics at once, with several more on the way. This week, Blake and Erin talk about the beginnings of The Flash and Gotham, the new season of Agents of SHIELD, Peter Capaldi’s first season on Doctor Who, and take a brief detour into this year’s Phineas and Ferb Halloween Special.
And what’s cool this week? Erin is into Diana Rowland‘s My Life as a White Trash Zombie, and Blake recommends Rocket Raccoon #4 and Earth 2: World’s End #1.
With Halloween approaching, it’s time to start dipping into the well of available costumes… but that brings up the eternal question, what should I be? Blake talks about some of the creepier “sexy” costumes, the dearth of options available for a geek in a non-geek crowd, and asks for your suggestions for this year’s cleverest Halloween get-ups. Contact us with comments, suggestions, or anything else at Showcase@CXPulp.com!
And what’s cool this week? In comics, it’s Tim Seeley and Mike Norton‘s Revival, while on DVD there’s the massive 7-hour documentary Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th.
