Episode 310: Six Years of Super Cinema

A few weeks ago, Warner Bros announced their slate of planned DC Comics movies through 2020. Not to be outdone, Marvel hit us with Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe a few days later. With Sony and Fox joining the fray with their licenses, there are over three dozen superhero movies in the works that we know of. This week, the Showcasers talk about the movies that have been announced — which ones are we excited for? Which ones have us a bit concerned? And which ones will surprise us if the cameras ever actually roll?

And what’s cool this week? Kenny is into the Constantine TV show, Erin is making her way through Anne Rice‘s Vampire Chronicles, and Blake gives props to Rocket Raccoon #5 and Tooth & Claw #1.

Episode 294: Whoa-Oh-Oh, It’s Magic!

Blake and Kenny make the trek to Slidell for the second Magic Mini-Con! The guys chat with Vernon Smith about his new comic Hide, Travis Hymel and Joe Badon about the upcoming Memoirs of the Mysterious, as well as Travis’s webcomic Punch and Joe’s Outside the Lines graphic novel, and Kurt Amacker gives us an update on the Cradle of Filth comic. The guys also talk about how Marvel has stolen the name of our podcast, chat about cosplayers, and sit in astonishment at the proliferation of Kickstarter campaigns in the universe today. Episode 99: 2008-The Year in Review

2008 ends in just days, folks, so let’s go out with a Showcase blowout! Joined by back-up geeks Mike and Kenny, the boys announce the winners of the Best of 2008 awards, as voted on by you! Then, it’s a long talk about everything that happened in comics in 2008! The Dark Knight, the rise of Marvel Studios, Diamond refuses to distribute Hack/Slash, Archie goes back to ninth grade, and a heck of a lot more. This double-sized episode is the longest Showcase ever (we promise we won’t make a habit of it)! And instead of our usual picks of the week, stay tuned as our four guys pick their favorite comic books of the entire year! Next week will be the 100th Episode Spectacular! If you’ll be in the New Orleans area on Friday, Jan. 2 at about 4:30 p.m., stop in at BSI Comics to join the guys as they record their centennial episode!
