Hiatus Episode 1
With Gustav gone, the Showcase gang is still scattered to the four winds, and it will be a few weeks before Blake and Chase can get together to record again. In the meantime, Blake brings you this hiatus mini-episode to tell you how all of your favorite geeks made out during the storm… and just so there’s some comic book content, Blake talks about the comics he read while he evacuated: Watchmen, Star Wars: Vector, The Alcoholic and The Nearly Complete Essential Hembeck Archives Omnibus. We don’t know when we’ll be back full-time, guys, but we hope it’s soon.
Episode 81: Star Wars (Our) Episode II
We’ve talked Star Wars here before, way back in Episode 19, but with a new movie coming out, the Showcase boys decide to once again journey to a galaxy far, far away. This week, the guys discuss all six Star Wars movies, why Chase hates the Expanded Universe, how he ruined Vector Prime for Blake, who for some reason became friends with him anyway, the current comics from Dark Horse, the property in video games, and of course, the upcoming Clone Wars movie and TV show! In the picks this week, Chase gives props to Daredevil #109, and Blake chuckles over Ambush Bug: Year None #1!
Episode 67: Free Comic Book Day 2008 Part One
Blake and Chase spent this year’s Free Comic Book Day hanging out with the staff, guests and customers of BSI Comics, and with the microphone rolling all day they got so much good stuff that they can’t pack it all into one episode! So in part one of our two-part Free Comic Book Day special, the guys chat with the customers and staff about the free books on the table, recent books like DC Universe #0, and the movie that’s on everyone‘s mind, the smash hit Iron Man. Then, the guys talk to members of the 501st Stormtrooper Legion and with Vernon Smith, creator of the all-ages graphic novel series The Adventures of Dexter Breakfast.

With the girl of steel joining the cast of Smallville this season, Blake and Chase decided to use this week to talk about their favorite Supergirl stories, the many incarnations of the character, and whether or not she makes sense in the current DC Universe. Star Wars: Legacy and Wrath of the Titans join the ranks of Showcase Picks this week.

It’s a multi-fandom geekfest in this week’s 2 in 1 Showcase. May is the 30th anniversary of the original Star Wars movie, and there’s no way Chase and Blake could let such an occasion go by without notice. This week our boys spend time talking about their all-time favorite Star Wars comic books, talk about the comics being published by Dark Horse Comics these days, and tell you how to get your episode idea moved up on “The List.” Then they think out of the box for this week’s picks — TwoMorrows Publishing’s The Dark Age and Fantagraphics’ The Complete Peanuts.
Episode 17: Free Comic Book Day 2007
The sixth annual Free Comic Book Day has come and gone, friends, but the memories remain. Although Chase couldn’t make it today, guest host Mike Bellamy joined Blake at BSI Comics for a special on-location episode to talk with the staff and customers of their local comic shop about FCBD, getting kids into comics, why Blake can’t tell a Storm Trooper from a Snowtrooper, and everything to do with comics and movies.
