Episode 169: Free Comic Book Day 2010
It’s time once again for Geek Christmas, Free Comic Book Day! The Showcase boys, including Blake, Mike, and first-time panelist Daniel, sat in at BSI Comics in Metaire, where they talked to novelist Lewis Aleman, the world’s smallest Clone Trooper, and chatted about the beginning of War of the Supermen, the upcoming Iron Man 2, the recently-released Kick-Ass, and discussed just what they hope to see Free Comic Book Day become in the future. Episode 162: On the Go
The guys are busy this weekend, so it’s gonna be a mini-episode recorded as the guys are out and about trying to take a bit of a break. The guys talk for a few minutes about news from the Emerald City Comicon, the announcements about the departing creative team of Power Girl, the incoming writer of Superman and Wonder Woman, and the official word on the next Superman movie. In a novel “what graphic novel do you want to buy?” segment, Kenny wants Chew Vol. 1: Taster’s Choice and Terra, Blake has his eyes on Starman Omnibus Vol. 4, and Mike shows his love for the Kiss Kompendium.

Since the Showcase started, every so often fans have suggested we try our hands at a movie commentary episode. This week, we’re finally giving it a try. Get out your DVD of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and pop it in. When we tell you to press play, you can listen as Blake, Kenny and Mike talk about the movie itself, the comic books it was drawn from, the stories that came before and after, merchandising, merchandising, merchandising, and maybe a tangent or two along the way! In the picks this week, Mike chooses Blackest Night: Wonder Woman #2, Blake says farewell to The Mighty with issue 12, and Kenny picks Frank Cho‘s Shanna the She-Devil.

All good things must come to an end… Chase comes back one last time as regular co-host of the Showcase to join Blake for the decade in review. The guys talk about the movies, television shows, comic books and creators that shaped the past ten years. The guys answer one last round of Ask Chase Anything, and at long last, the question is answered… Why does Chase hate Firestorm? Chase is leaving, but the Showcase is sticking around.
