Memorial Day Weekend is racing towards us, and that means it’s time for the annual Showcase Summer Movie Preview. Blake and Erin cruise through IMDB’s “Coming Soon” pages this week to talk about Avengers: Age of Ultron and several other movies that will not make as much money as Avengers: Age of Ultron. We go from the blockbusters-in-the-making like Jurassic World, Tomorrowland and San Andreas to movies like Trainwreck, in which the reviews seem to write themselves. Also: Erin shows her street cred and Blake bemoans the state of modern horror!
And what’s cool this week? “Wait For the Trade” reader Erin has gotten heavily into Matt Fraction and David Aja’s Hawkeye, while weekly comic junkie Blake enjoyed the heck out of Convergence #2 andThe Chilling Adventures of Sabrina #2.
In the newest Showcase Top Ten, Blake and Kenny go through the greatest time travel stories of all time. The guys present their lists, read comments from you, and announce the final winners! In the picks, Kenny goes with Green Lantern Corps #0 and Blake takes Archer and Armstrong #2 Contact us with comments, suggestions, or anything else at Showcase@CXPulp.com!
The movie season is in high gear now, and this week’s big release is Terminator: Salvation. To prepare for the movie, the Showcase gang converged on the home of Mike “I Left My Heart in 2029” Bellamy for a marathon of the first three Terminator movies and the pilot episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The boys talk about the films and show, discuss the property in comics, and pre-hash the new movie. Come back on Tuesday for our review of Terminator: Salvation! In the picks this week, Blake enjoyed the first issue of Olympus and Chase provides the graphic novel pick, Hellblazer: Original Sins. WARNING: This podcast contains frequent terrible Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonations. Parental Discretion is advised.
The boys bring you a quick Week in Geek this week, with their initial impressions of the new episode of Lost, “316,” plus their thoughts on recent episodes of Chuck, Heroes, Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles and the premiere episode of Dollhouse!
The Showcase Geeks have been having a lot of fun lately going through your messages and e-mails… so much fun, in fact, that this week we’re giving you the first-ever 2 in 1 Showcase Feedback Special! This week, you steer the conversation, as the guys answer an avalanche of questions and discuss comments on everything from Brand New Day to Exiles to the question of what the worst DC Comics crossover of all time really was. They spin off onto Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles, Lost, and Chase breaks the needle off the Geekometer with a classic Star Trek rant! In the picks this week, Chase presents Chronicles of Wormwood: The Last Enemy, while Blake bids a fond farewell to Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra‘s Vertigo mainstay, Y: The Last Man.
