Blake goes it alone with a quick episode for this Independence Day weekend. DC‘s biggest event of the year has come to a conclusion, but before the sun rises on Brightest Day, the Showcase boys take a look back at the Blackest Night. In this spoiler-packed episode the guys discuss the one-shots and tie-ins of the second half of the event, their thoughts on the story as a while, and the potential for the upcoming Brightest Day spin-offs. The guys are busy this weekend, so it’s gonna be a mini-episode recorded as the guys are out and about trying to take a bit of a break. The guys talk for a few minutes about news from the Emerald City Comicon, the announcements about the departing creative team of Power Girl, the incoming writer of Superman and Wonder Woman, and the official word on the next Superman movie. In a novel “what graphic novel do you want to buy?” segment, Kenny wants Chew Vol. 1: Taster’s Choice and Terra, Blake has his eyes on Starman Omnibus Vol. 4, and Mike shows his love for the Kiss Kompendium.

From his early days on Justice League of America and Power Man and Iron Fist, through his career-making work on Marvels and Astro City, right through to his current work on the weekly maxiseries Trinity, the guys break down all of his work, talk about their favorites and least-favorites, and discuss the next project he’s going to be involved with, Wednesday Comics. In the picks this week, Blake recommends Batman: Battle For the Cowl #1, Mike dug Action Comics #875, and Chase is all about Thor #600.
