Episode 143: Trick or Tangent
Halloween is over, but the boys have one last treat for you — our Trick-or-Tangent episode! This week, you steer the course of the show, as the guys answer your e-mails. Artist chatter, the state of the Shazam! family, spacefaring with the Guardians of the Galaxy, and even a letter in support of Twilight. Plus, Blake asks (okay, begs) your help in supporting his latest creative enterprise. As we roll into October, the Halloween Spooktacular is again upon us! The Showcase is undergoing some big changes this week, but Blake and Kenny sit down to talk about the immortal lord of the night, Count Dracula, from his classic movies, the legendary Tomb of Dracula comic, and his appearances in the DC Multiverse and elsewhere. The guys also talk about the rest of the Count’s vampire bretheren, some great vampire novels and comics from recent years, and desperately look for a way to save the Noble Nosferatu from being Twilight-ized. In the picks this week, Kenny goes with Blackest Night #3, and Blake takes the upcoming prose book Peter and Max: A Fables Novel. It’s the second annual 2 in 1 Showcase Halloween Spooktacular! In this oversized episode, the boys talk about their favorite slashers, both in the movies and in comics. The guys talk about the worlds of Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street and the Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash crossover, plus a discussion of the best slasher series ever to come out of comics, Hack/Slash.
