This week the boys line up another top ten (or seven… or eight…) episode, as they get together to discuss some of their favorite underrated characters from comics, television, movies, video games, and even a book or two without pictures. Which warriors do the guys say just don’t get the respect they deserve? And in the picks, Blake selects Superman/Batman #75 and Kenny digs on Booster Gold #35.
It’s time for another Showcase Commentary episode! This week, Blake and Kenny sit down to watch one of their favorite geek films, The Gamers: Dorkness Rising. As they discuss the film, the guys tell tales of their own Dungeons and Dragons and role-playing adventures, talk about the works of cartoonist Aaron Williams, and discuss gaming comics and media in general. Head on over to NetFlix and queue up the movie in to stream along as you listen to the boys discuss it! In the picks, Blake has a great time with X-Factor Forever #1 and Kenny stays on-topic with the first collected edition of the gamer comic Looking For Group.
Retro-week strikes the Showcase boys, as they sit back and discuss one of their favorite stories of the early 1990s, the Superman-family crossover Panic in the Sky! The guys discuss the roots of the story, the repurcussions, how it led to the Death of Superman, and how the “Triangle Numbers” of the era compare with the way the Superman family of comics is in 2009. In the picks, Mike goes with Booster Gold #18, Chase picks The Walking Dead #59, and Blake digs PS 238 #38. Our graphic novel pick of the week? The Walking Dead Compendium Vol. 1!
The year is almost over, friends, so it’s time for Blake and Chase to make their nominations for the best in comics for 2008! Listen to the guys discuss their choices, and then e-mail your votes in. With their stomachs full and the urge to take a Thanksgiving nap, Blake and Chase sit down this week to dish on some of the all-time comic book turkeys — comics that were supposed to be the Next Big Thing and turned out to be the thing everyone wishes they could forget. Spider-Man: Chapter One; The Dark Knight Strikes Again; JLA: World War III and X-Men: The End have their badges of dishonor bestowed upon them. But not to end on a down note, the guys talk about some of the great comics out there that they’re thankful for: Booster Gold, PS 238, The Walking Dead and Jonah Hex, just to name a few!
