Episode 95: Best of 2008 Nominations

The year is almost over, friends, so it’s time for Blake and Chase to make their nominations for the best in comics for 2008! Listen to the guys discuss their choices, and then e-mail your votes in. One randomly-chosen voter will recieve a prize package from BSI Comics. Votes must be received by December 26, 2008, to be counted in time for their announcement in our end-of-the-year spectacular!

Episode 84: Geoff Johns

He seems to win a pick of the week every other episode, so Blake and Chase finally devote an entire hour to the amazing Geoff Johns. From his groundbreaking work on Green Lantern to his upcoming revamp of the Flash to the totally brilliant revitalization of the Legion of Super-Heroes, the guys discuss why they like his work, what makes him so darn good, and whether or not Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds will be as awesome as Blackest Night. In the picks, Blake goes with the first issue of the new Vertigo series, Air, while Chase is blown away by The Walking Dead #51. From their origins at Dell in the 1940s, up to today’s books from Gemstone and Slave Labor Graphics, the guys talk about the history of Disney in comics, some of their favorite stories, what they’re doing right, and what they could be doing better — and their findings just may surprise you. Episode 44: Comic Book Turkeys

With their stomachs full and the urge to take a Thanksgiving nap, Blake and Chase sit down this week to dish on some of the all-time comic book turkeys — comics that were supposed to be the Next Big Thing and turned out to be the thing everyone wishes they could forget. Spider-Man: Chapter One; The Dark Knight Strikes Again; JLA: World War III and X-Men: The End have their badges of dishonor bestowed upon them. But not to end on a down note, the guys talk about some of the great comics out there that they’re thankful for: Booster Gold, PS 238, The Walking Dead and Jonah Hex, just to name a few!
