It’s time once again for the summer movie season to kick into gear! This week, the Showcase boys run down all of the big pictures coming out this summer, giving their thoughts on each of them. Which ones do they want to see? Which ones will the pass? Which ones look like a NetFlix rental? And why might Blake wind up topless to satisfy Chase‘s rage? All the answers are inside! In the picks this week, Mike chooses Green Lantern Corps #35, Chase goes with The Walking Dead #60, and Blake picks Fables #83. This week’s graphic novel pick: Tales of the Green Lantern Corps!

Week in Geek #17: Putting the Record Straight

In this week’s Week in Geek, the boys set the record straight about everything. Chase tells you how to survive in Disney World (don’t bring kids), an e-mail corrects both the guys about blunders in the Wonder Man/Beast episode, and Chase explains why he watches shows (and reads comics) he doesn’t like. And somewhere in there, they get around to discussing Lost, Heroes, Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles, the Green Lantern movie, and some announcements this week from DC Comics.

Episode 109: Warner Brothers and the Looney Tunes Legacy

It’s a whole new era for 2 in 1 Showcase, as back-up geek Mike Bellamy tries to make the transition to full-time! How long will he last? Check the Vegas odds tomorrow. This week, the boys are getting Looney, as the talk about the history of Warner Brothers animation. The guys toss around their favorite — and least-favorite — Looney Tunes characters and cartoons, discuss the DVDs and movies, talk about the shows that tried to carry the torch, and bat around the potential future of the franchise. With a new era comes a new rule for picks of the week! Each of the guys has their pick, but one geek each week will chime in with their Graphic Novel Pick of the Week! In the regular picks, Blake rages into Green Lantern #38, Mike walks like an Egyptian in Batman Confidential #26, and Chase digs Outsiders #15. Episode 107: Final Crisis Retrospective

It’s been a few weeks, the dust has settled, and the guys are ready to pick into DC’s Final Crisis. Chase tells us what he didn’t like, Blake tries to explain the ending, they give their thoughts about the future of Batman and the Multiverse, and talk about the state of “The Crossover” in comics in general. In the picks this week, Geoff Johns dominates, as Chase selects Green Lantern #37 and Blake gushes like a schoolgirl over Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds #3.

Episode 99: 2008-The Year in Review

2008 ends in just days, folks, so let’s go out with a Showcase blowout! Joined by back-up geeks Mike and Kenny, the boys announce the winners of the Best of 2008 awards, as voted on by you! Then, it’s a long talk about everything that happened in comics in 2008! The Dark Knight, the rise of Marvel Studios, Diamond refuses to distribute Hack/Slash, Archie goes back to ninth grade, and a heck of a lot more. This double-sized episode is the longest Showcase ever (we promise we won’t make a habit of it)! And instead of our usual picks of the week, stay tuned as our four guys pick their favorite comic books of the entire year! Next week will be the 100th Episode Spectacular! If you’ll be in the New Orleans area on Friday, Jan. 2 at about 4:30 p.m., stop in at BSI Comics to join the guys as they record their centennial episode!

Episode 94: Overstuffed Thanksgiving Special

It’s almost Turkey Day again, and before you head out to stuff your face, listen to the boys as they discuss some of their favorite overstuffed comic books. From treasury editions like Superman Vs. the Amazing Spider-Man, to annual events like the birth of Franklin Richards and Armageddon 2001, the guys discuss the format, the pros of a big fat comic book, and some of their favorite stories. Then, after taking a few minutes to talk about what they’re thankful for, Blake gives his pick of the week award to Green Lantern: In Brightest Day and Chase cheers Invincible Iron Man #7.

Episode 84: Geoff Johns

He seems to win a pick of the week every other episode, so Blake and Chase finally devote an entire hour to the amazing Geoff Johns. From his groundbreaking work on Green Lantern to his upcoming revamp of the Flash to the totally brilliant revitalization of the Legion of Super-Heroes, the guys discuss why they like his work, what makes him so darn good, and whether or not Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds will be as awesome as Blackest Night. In the picks, Blake goes with the first issue of the new Vertigo series, Air, while Chase is blown away by The Walking Dead #51. Then in the picks, Chase continues to love Geoff Johns with Action Comics #866, and Blake bids a sad farewell to the comic book version of Justice League Unlimited.

Episode 73: Valiant Comics Reborn

It’s the episode Blake and Chase have been hoping to record for over ten years now! (That’s right. Even before podcasting existed.) The Valiant Universe — home of heroes such as Harbinger, X-O Manowar, Archer and Armstrong and Rai and the Future Force — is slowly making a return with new hardcover editions, and the promise of new comics to come. This week, the guys tell you their favorite Valiant stories, cross their fingers for the return for Magnus: Robot Fighter and Solar: Man of the Atom to the line, and explain how they would resurrect Valiant as a line of ongoing comics. In the picks this week, Blake cheers for the return of Firebreather and Chase is still in love with Green Lantern: Secret Origin.
