Since the beginning of the Showcase, we’ve gotten e-mails from people who wanted us to come up with our all-time top ten comic books. We listened to your demand… and we decided to do it a little differently. We’re breaking up the world of comics into categories, and we’re going to do a top five list in each one. This week, Blake and Chase each select their all time top five Marvel Universe comics! In the picks this week, Chase went with Avengers: The Initiative #27, and Blake chooses Adventure Comics #2.

Episode 132: Spotlight on J. Michael Straczynski
Creator spotlight week brings us to the works of J. Michael Straczynski! The guys discuss the early TV work on cartoons like Masters of the Universe and The Real Ghostbusters, his career-making turn on Babylon 5, and his journey through comics beginning with Rising Stars and Midnight Nation, through Spider-Man and Thor, and his current place reimagining the Red Circle. In the picks this week, Blake choose Justice Society of America #29, Chase brings us Dark Wolverine #76 (plus a retro pick!), and Mike goes with Blackest Night: Tales of the Corps #1. Episode 130: G.I. Joe-A Real American Hero
With the movie coming out soon, the boys line up to talk about the past, present, and future of G.I. Joe. We talk toys, we talk cartoons, we talk comics — we talk about our favorite stories, the worst interpretations, and Chase explains why he doesn’t allow his friends to play with his toys. In the picks, Mike chooses Supergirl #43, Blake digs Doctor Who: Room With a Deja View, and Chase selects Amazing Spider-Man #600. This week’s graphic novel pick: Spider-Man: Torment.
Episode 129: Spider-Man-Kraven’s Last Hunt
Retrospective week is upon us again! This month, the guys dive into one of the greatest Spider-Man sagas of all time, J.M. DeMatteis and Mike Zeck‘s classic Kraven’s Last Hunt. The guys break down the story, talk about what makes it so enduring, and discuss spin-offs and repurcussions that last even today! In the picks this week, Blake presents Buzzboy: Sidekicks Rule #3, Chase digs Savage Dragon #150, and Mike enjoys Superman: World of New Krypton #5. Episode 111: 90s Cartoon Extravaganza
Our 80s Cartoons episode was a hit, and we’re not above repeating our success. This week, the boys talk about their favorite cartoons from the long-ago days of the 1990s, from the Batman and Superman animated series to the battles of the Beast Wars. Join the guys as they debate whether the Marvel cartoons were a cohesive universe, the pros and cons of Nicktoons and Cartoon Network originals, and whether it’s called the Diniverse or Earth-Timm! In the picks, Blake chooses Secret Six #7, Chase liked Gotham Gazette: Batman Dead?, and Mike can’t wait for Spider-Man 2099 Vol. 1!

When Blake has to take a sick day, Chase rounds up two guest-hosts to sit in for a Valentine’s Day special where they talk about the most eligible bachelors in comics — Nightwing? Captain America? Episode 94: Overstuffed Thanksgiving Special
It’s almost Turkey Day again, and before you head out to stuff your face, listen to the boys as they discuss some of their favorite overstuffed comic books. From treasury editions like Superman Vs. the Amazing Spider-Man, to annual events like the birth of Franklin Richards and Armageddon 2001, the guys discuss the format, the pros of a big fat comic book, and some of their favorite stories. Then, after taking a few minutes to talk about what they’re thankful for, Blake gives his pick of the week award to Green Lantern: In Brightest Day and Chase cheers Invincible Iron Man #7.
Episode 85: The Return
We’re back! Chase and Blake, along with their emergency back-up geeks Mike and Kenny set up shop at BSI Comics to record a new batch of episodes! This week, the guys discuss what it’s like to be a comic reader in a hurricane zone, tell about their Gustav and Ike experiences, and most importantly, dish on the comics they’ve read since they’ve been out. In the picks this week, Blake likes Atomic Robo: Dogs of War #2, and Chase endorses Savage Dragon #137. Thanks to everyone who has stuck with us during the unexpected hiatus, and let’s hope we don’t have to do it again.

Episode 69: Marvel Movie Blowout
Prepare yourself for the biggest 2 in 1 Showcase ever! With no less than five comic book movies coming out this summer and more planned for the fall, the Showcase boys decided to do a two-part episode talking about all the Marvel and DC movies to date. What neither of them expected was that both parts would be gargantuan. In this double-sized episode, the guys break down all of the Marvel films by franchise, debate the merits, and give their own rating of each and every one — and the discussion lasts longer than some of the movies! In this week’s picks, Blake loves the new Guardians of the Galaxy, while the conclusion of “Last Son of Krypton” makes Action Comics Annual Chase’s choice.
