Episode 152: The Decade in Review
All good things must come to an end… Chase comes back one last time as regular co-host of the Showcase to join Blake for the decade in review. The guys talk about the movies, television shows, comic books and creators that shaped the past ten years. The guys answer one last round of Ask Chase Anything, and at long last, the question is answered… Why does Chase hate Firestorm? Chase is leaving, but the Showcase is sticking around.

Because you demanded it! People have long asked us to do an episode delving into the classic X-Men storyline, The Age of Apocalypse, and we at the showcase aim to please! This week, Blake and Chase talk about the overall storyline, our favorites of the individual issues, and which elements from the Age of Apocalypse managed to transcend “alternate reality” status and become part of the regular X-Men lore. In the picks, Blake loved the first issue of Ender’s Game: Command School, while Chase gives us the graphic novel pick, Saga of the Swamp Thing Book One.

We listened to your demand… and we decided to do it a little differently. We’re breaking up the world of comics into categories, and we’re going to do a top five list in each one. This week, Blake and Chase each select their all time top five Marvel Universe comics! In the picks this week, Chase went with Avengers: The Initiative #27, and Blake chooses Adventure Comics #2.

Our 80s Cartoons episode was a hit, and we’re not above repeating our success. This week, the boys talk about their favorite cartoons from the long-ago days of the 1990s, from the Batman and Superman animated series to the battles of the Beast Wars. Join the guys as they debate whether the Marvel cartoons were a cohesive universe, the pros and cons of Nicktoons and Cartoon Network originals, and whether it’s called the Diniverse or Earth-Timm! In the picks, Blake chooses Secret Six #7, Chase liked Gotham Gazette: Batman Dead?, and Mike can’t wait for Spider-Man 2099 Vol. 1!

It’s only a few days until Christmas, folks. Before you hang up your stockings and put out cookies for Santa, have a seat with Blake and Chase as they talk about the holiday-themed comics that came out this year, as well as some of their favorite Christmas movies and TV specials. Chase regales us with the heartwarming story of how the Showcase crew saw Love, Actually together, the guys debate the merits of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, and everybody huddles around the virtual fire to talk about what we want for Christmas. In the picks this week, Blake cheers the greatest Junior Woodchucks Story Ever Told in Uncle Scrooge #383, and Chase cheers the return of the X-Men to the rest of the Marvel Universe in Uncanny X-Men #505.
