Episode 76: Mike Mignola and Hellboy
Chase is paying a visit to San Antonio this week, so Blake joins up with the back-up geeks, Mike and Kenny to talk about the career of Mike Mignola and his most famous creation, Hellboy. The guys talk about their favorite Mignola comics, their favorite Hellboy stories, how they felt about the first movie, what they’re expecting from the second, and Kenny even gives his thoughts on the new Hellboy: Science of Evil video game! Episode 70: DC Comics Movie Blowout
How else could we follow up the longest Showcase podcast ever? With the second longest Showcase podcast ever! Last week, Chase and Blake took apart ever Marvel Comics movie to date, and this week, they do the same for DC. Everything from Superman and the Mole Men and the Adam West Batman to looks ahead at The Dark Knight and Watchmen is part of this giant-size episode. In the picks this week, Chase cheers for Franklin Richards: Not-So-Secret Invasion #1, while Blake is stunned at how Supergirl has become a must-read comic.
Episode 68: Justice Society of America
Our big May spectacular continues as Blake and Chase (along with back-up geeks Mike and Kenny) delve into the world’s first superhero team, and one of the best monthly comics currently on the stands: Justice Society of America. The guys pick their favorite JSA stories, talk about the past, present and future of the team, discuss the strength of Legacy heroes, and show their excitement over the upcoming Power Girl series! In the picks this week, Blake is all about the Justice Society of America #11, while Chase goes out a limb and talks about All Star Batman and Robin, the Boy Wonder #8.
Episode 44: Comic Book Turkeys
With their stomachs full and the urge to take a Thanksgiving nap, Blake and Chase sit down this week to dish on some of the all-time comic book turkeys — comics that were supposed to be the Next Big Thing and turned out to be the thing everyone wishes they could forget. Spider-Man: Chapter One; The Dark Knight Strikes Again; JLA: World War III and X-Men: The End have their badges of dishonor bestowed upon them. But not to end on a down note, the guys talk about some of the great comics out there that they’re thankful for: Booster Gold, PS 238, The Walking Dead and Jonah Hex, just to name a few!
